MONA demands liquor-free Odisha on Utkal Divas


Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Utkal Divas, Milita Odisha Nisha Nibarana Abhiyan (MONNA) on Thursday reiterated its demand for liquor free Odisha.

To mark this occasion, a group of MONNA volunteers led by its president Padma Charan Nayak offered flowers near the statute of Madhu Babu and subsequently held a protest at Lower PMG here.

Speaking on the occasion, MONNA president said, “We received a united Odisha after years of struggle by many of our former leaders. The dreams they saw for it, is being shattered by the liquor menace. Unfortunately, this govt in its 20 years of tenure has further deteriorated the situation and expanded number of liquor shops by manifold. We urge govt to ban liquor in the state immediately and redrive it in the path of prosperity.”

Among others present on the occasion are Malay Tripathy, Bani Das, Ramakant Mandal, Suvendu Routray, Indumati Nayak, and Saumya Ranjan Mohanty.
