Bhubaneswar: Odisha celebrated the 85th foundation day of the state, known as ‘Utkal Dibasa’, with utmost pride and glory on Thursday.
Odisha was carved out of the combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province on this day in 1936.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Utkala Dibasa.
Usually people of Odisha celebrate this day with several meetings and public events. However, this year, it will be celebrated in a low key manner due to the prevailing coronavirus pandemic.
Large congregations for celebrating Utkal Divas have not been permitted throughout the state.
