Thunderstorm with lightning likely in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts in Odisha.

The districts are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nayagarh, Khurda, Ganjam, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sundargarh.

The IMD said thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur over the districts from 8.30 am today till 8:30 am Monday.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning in respect of the above districts.

Accordingly, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner has alerted these districts to take steps to circulate the warning message among the public.

“The situation may be closely monitored and action as deemed necessary be taken in case of any eventuality. Details of the incident, if any, may promptly be reported to the emergency operations centre,” the advisory stated.
