Major fire breaks out at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)

Rourkela: A major fire broke out at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Odisha in the wee hours damaging properties worth lakhs.

The fire broke out around 3 am reducing machinery and hardware worth lakhs to ashes.

According to reports, the fire mishap took place at Steel Melting Shop (SMS)-II of the steel plant as molten iron got scattered leading to the outbreak of the fire.

While the control room was severely damaged, many instruments were gutted in the blaze.

The room was completely engulfed in flames and electrical tools and machinery installed inside the room were ravaged.

The fire services personnel who rushed to the spot brought the blaze under control.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the plant has ordered an inquiry into the fire mishap at Rourkela Steel Plant.
