Covid-19: Odisha reports this year’s highest single-day spike


Bhubaneswar: As many as 791 Covid-19 positive cases were detected in Odisha during the last 24 hours, said a health official on Wednesday.

This is the highest single-day spike of coronavirus cases reported this year. Odisha had last registered over 700 cases on November 25, 2020, said the official.

Out of the 791 cases, 459 were detected in quarantine while 332 are local contact cases.

The COVID-19 tally in the state rose to 344647 with 4255 active cases.

Sundargarh reported the highest 147 cases followed by Khordha (118), Bargarh (48), Cuttack (46), Sambalpur (45), Puri (43), Keonjhar (39), Kalahandi (38), Jharsuguda (31), Nuapada (31), Mayurbhanj (24), Nabarangpur (23).

One death was reported from Puri district.
