MCL to set up Covid care facilities in 4 districts of Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has instructed the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to set up around 550-bedded Covid care facilities in four districts of Odisha.

Joshi, in a letter to Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, informed that he has instructed the management of MCL to consider setting up the Covid care facilities in Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Angul districts of Odisha.

Pradhan had sought the personal intervention of Joshi to set up the Covid facilities in the state.

He had requested for setting up of a temporary super specialty hospital with 150 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities in Sambalpur, setting up of Covid Hospital with 50 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities in Vasundhara area of MCL, Sundargarh district.

Besides, Pradhan requested for provisioning of 50 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities at Brajrajnagar Covid Hospital, Jharsuguda district, 150 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities at Lakhanpur Covid Hospital, Jharsuguda district and 150 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities at MCL Covid Hospital Talcher, Angul district.

Notably, Odisha recorded as many as 10,649 positive cases in the past 24 hours, while 19 more persons succumbed to the deadly infection during the period.
