Centre utterly failed in Covid management: PCC president

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik on Wednesday attacked the Central government saying that it has utterly failed in managing the Covid-19 situation in last 16 months.

He said the inept handling of the situation has caused innumerable human crises.

More than 27 million people of the country have been pushed in to the BPL category from 2020 march to 2021 May. But the same people have been uplifted from BPL category from 2004 to 2014 during the UPA Government, said Patnaik.

Farmers, agricultural labourers, daily wage earner, people of small earning, and lower middle class and middle class people are suffering to a great extent due to the fear of disease and loosing employment, he added.

“India is contributing highest number Covid-19 patient, it is nearly 57% of the total Covid patients of the world. Today, if the country is suffering to such a great extent, it is solely due to the in competence and visions less of the Modi government,” said the PCC president.

Patnaik expressed his anguish and dissatisfaction that Modi government instead of behaving like a responsible government criticised the opposition leader.

He said the Odisha Pradesh Congress will organize a four hours Dharna throughout the state in front of all petrol pumps.

He urged to both the state government and the Centre to reduce the taxes on petrol and diesel and cooking gas.
