Jio tops 4G speed chart with 21.9 Mbps average download speed in June: TRAI Data


Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio once again topped the 4G speed chart with 21.9 megabit per second (Mbps) average 4G download speed in the month of June 2021, as per the latest data published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

As per the data published by TRAI, the 4G network speed of Reliance Jio increased further in comparison to the previous month, however, it’s average 4G download speed in the month of June was more than three times higher than that of the nearest competitor Vodafone Idea, which showed an average download speed of 6.5 Mbps. Bharti Airtel had registered the lowest average 4G download speed of 5 Mbps in the month.

In average 4G upload speed, Vodafone Idea had an average 4G upload speed of 6.2 Mbps in June, which was followed by Reliance Jio with an upload speed of 4.8 Mbps and Bharti Airtel with 3.9 Mbps.

It is worth mentioning here that the download speed helps consumers in accessing content from the internet, while upload speed helps them in sending or sharing pictures or video to their contacts. The average speed is computed by Trai based on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.

In Odisha, Jio also continued its leadership with highest average 4G download speed of 33 Mbps, followed by Vodafone Idea which registered an average download speed of 5.7 Mbps and Bharti Airtel which showed an average 4G download speed of 4.5 Mbps, revealed the data published by TRAI on its MySpeed portal. Similarly, Vodafone Idea had 7.9 Mbps average 4G upload speed followed by 5.4 Mbps average upload speed of Jio and 3.2 Mbps average 4G upload speed by Airtel, in Odisha.

It is worth mentioning here that Reliance Jio recently deployed 20 MHz additional 4G spectrum across Odisha, further strengthening its mobility network and significantly enriching customer experience with enhanced speed and network coverage across the state.
