Brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore seized in Bhadrak, 4 nabbed

Bhadrak: Over 1 kg brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore has been seized in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, said police on Saturday.

Four persons including a woman have been arrested in this connection.

During enforcement of lockdown and COVID-19 safety norms, the Bhadrak Rural police intercepted an auto-rickshaw carrying four persons, including a woman near Charampa on NH-16 under Dhamra railway overbridge.

The police recovered the contraband item weighing 1,090 gram along with Rs 1 lakh cash, three mobile phones and other incriminating articles.

The police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
