Midway near Simulia, he asked the cops to stop for a while to attend nature’s call at around 3.20 pm.

“He asked our men to stop the vehicle to attend nature’s call. He later snatched away a pistol and tried to escape. Police opened fire to prevent him from escaping and in the process he sustained bullet injuries,” said Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi.

He suffered bullet injuries in his abdomen and was rushed to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). He succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital, doctors said.
