SOA welcomes new initiatives under NEP


Bhubaneswar: The launching of the National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) and National Education Technology Forum (NETF) will further strengthen the online education platforms and assist students, Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Vice-chancellor of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), said on Thursday.

Prof. Mahapatra, who attended the address of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi through a video conference during the day, said SOA had already aligned itself to the new initiatives by adopting online teaching methods in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted classroom teaching.

SOA has been using the SWAYAM and MODULE platforms for uninterrupted teaching for its students, Prof. Mahapatra said.

Videos were uploaded on these platforms to facilitate teaching, he said.

Welcoming the new initiatives under the New Education Policy launched a year ago, he said students of higher education would be able to take advantage of the Academic Bank of Credit announced by the Prime Minister.

SOA, he said, always strived to promote universal human value system, holistic development and yoga, elements given importance in the NEP.

The university, he said, remained in the forefront of the battle against Covid-19 by operating multiple Covid Hospitals in collaboration with the state government.

SOA also had become the study destination of large number of foreign students in recent years.

Besides the VC, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Pro-Vice Chancellor, prof Priyabrata Pattnaik, Additional Dean (Research) and asst prof. Anish Wunnava, Online Coordinator, attended the Prime Minister’s video conference.
