KALIA Yojana: Odisha govt disburses Rs 743 crore to over 37 lakh farmers

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Nuakhai, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday released financial assistance of Rs 742.58 crore under the KALIA Yojana to farmers.

The assistance has been released to over 37.12 lakh small and marginal farmers across the state for Rabi crop.

According to a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), an assistance of Rs 2,000 has been credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiary farmers in the state.

The Chief Minister said, “Farmers’ problems are the problems of all of us and those can never be ignored.”

Concerned over low rainfall in August, the Chief Minister hoped that the situation would improve as it was raining now.

“The government is monitoring the situation,” he said.

With several parts of the State now experiencing rainfall, there might be an overall change in the drought-like situation in the state, he said.

The Chief Minister also advised the farmers to work on the advice of the Department of Agriculture.

The Chief Minister said that the KALIA Yojana is the best scheme in the country for the welfare of the farmers.
