Police ASI arrested in Puri for taking bribe


Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Sunday arrested ASI of Gop police station in Odisha’s Puri district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe.

Radhashyam Nayak, the ASI, has demanded a bribe of Rs 2000 from one complainant in order to release him on bail in connection with a police case.

Accordingly, a trap was laid on Sunday and the accused was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance.

The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the cop.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential quarter of Nayak at Gop and his rented residential house at Sunelo in Kendrapara.
