3488 fugitives arrested by Odisha Police in special drive


Bhubaneswar: As many as 3488 fugitives have been arrested by Odisha Police during a special drive, informed DGP Abhay on Tuesday.

Odisha Police conducted a special warrant drive from November 5 to November 14 for execution of non-bailable warrants. 

“A total of 3488 warrants were executed by arresting the accused persons. This includes 2392 warrants/arrests in GR cases, 400 warrants/arrests in sessions trial cases and 696 warrants/arrests in other cases,”informed the DGP.

Maximum 592 warrants were executed by arrests in Balasore district, 551 in Ganjam district and 516 in Khurda district. 

During this warrant drive, 2648 non-bailable warrants were otherwise disposed off.

The DGP said the work of these district SsP were appreciated by issue of commendation letter.

Odisha Police committed to catch all fugitives evading the process of law and produce them before court, the official said.
