Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passes away


Noted Telugu lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry today died of lung cancer-related complications. He was 66.


Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the ICU of KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad on November 24. A team of expert doctors treated him in the ICU but he breathed his last on Tuesday evening. The sudden demise of Sastry sent a shockwave across the country but especially in the South film industry.


“Saddened by the demise of Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry garu. His contribution to Telugu cinema is indelible. Rest in peace sir,” Ravi Teja said on Twitter.


Chembolu Seetharama Sastry, better known as Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, has penned lyrics for over 3,000 songs till 2020. He had also received the Padma Shri for his contributions in the field of arts and aesthetics, along with 11 state Nandi Awards and four Filmfare Awards South for his contribution to the entertainment industry as a lyricist.
