Bhubaneswar: Students need to keep track of happenings around the world and focus on conservation of environment, Odisha’s minister for higher education, Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo said.
“Keeping in view the world situation, it is for students to think about the future and survival of human civilization,” Dr. Sahoo said while speaking at the inauguration of the SOA Model United Nations (SOAMUN) event at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University on Friday.
The students should be aware about the contribution being made by United Nations Organisation (UNO) towards achieving world peace and protection of the environment, the minister said while congratulating SOA for organizing such a program.
Dr. Sahoo, who also joined a Q-A session with the participants, emphasized on the need for sustainable development while stressing that it was the students who had to shoulder the responsibility of fashioning a better world.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda and Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, who is also Convenor of SOAMUN ’21, addressed the program.
Ayushman Ray, Secretary General of SOAMUN ’21, declared the conference open while Director General for the event Subhan Debnath welcomed the guests.
