CDS Bipin Rawat and wife killed in helicopter crash

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others died in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

The copter carrying Gen Rawat and his entourage crashed in apparently foggy conditions, killing the 13 people on board, the IAF and other officials said. 

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and other personnel of the Armed Forces in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said;

“I am deeply anguished by the helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu in which we have lost Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and other personnel of the Armed Forces. They served India with utmost diligence. My thoughts are with the bereaved families.
