Omicron enters Odisha, 2 test positive for new variant

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported the maiden cases of Omicron with two persons testing positive for the new variant of Covid-19.

Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar on Tuesday informed that the presence of Omicron variant was confirmed following genome sequencing.

The two infected persons had returned from Nigeria and Qatar.

Their samples had been sent to ILS for genome sequencing to detect the presence of the new variant.
