Two more Omicron cases in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Two more persons in Odisha were found infected with the new Omicron variant of COVID-19, informed Institute of Life Science (ILS) Director Ajay Parida on Thursday. 

With this, the state’s tally of the new variant mounted to four.


As per official sources, the two infectees aged 11 and 15 years are returnees of “non at-risk” country Nigeria. 

Currently, they are undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, informed Parida.

Earlier on December 21, Odisha reported first two Omicron cases, with both having travel history to Nigeria and Qatar. 

Meanwhile, the state government has asked the district administrations to intensity surveillance and testing to fight the Omicron variant.
