23 more Omicron cases in Odisha, tally reaches 37


Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported 23 Omicron cases on Sunday, taking the total tally to 37 in the state, informed the Institute of Life Science (ILS).

As per the State Health Department, all the samples were sent for genome sequencing at the ILS, Bhubaneswar.

Among the new infectees, 11 are foreign returnees and 12 are local cases.

Odisha reported the first two Omicron cases on December 21 and both have international travel history. The infected duo had returned from Nigeria and Qatar. Within a fortnight’s time, the cases have gone from two to thirty-seven.

India has so far reported a total of 1525 Omicron cases.
