Veteran actor Mihir Das passes away


Cuttack: Veteran Ollywood actor Mihir Das passed way while undergoing treatment at a city based private hospital today. He was 55.


Accrording to sources, Mihir Das was hospitalized after his health condition became critical. The Ollywood actor was suffering from kidney ailments for past few years.


Mihir Das had received Best Actor award for ‘Laxmi Pratima’ in 1998 and ‘Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni’ in 2005 and Best Supporting Actor award for ‘Rakhi Bandhili Mo Rakhiba Mana’ in 2002 and ‘Prema Adhei Akhyara’ in 2010 from the state government.


Das, a household name in Odisha and known for his impeccable performance, had joined ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) before 2014 general election. However, he left the party in 2018. Impressed by the dynamism, idealism and deft leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mihir Das joined BJP.


With more than 200 films to his credit, Das had won several awards including the State Award and performed on TV series too.
