Abhaya Kr Das, a member of Nandanik, a theatre group based in Koraput, Odisha has been selected for Young Artist Scholarship by Centre for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT), Ministry of Culture, Government of India for 2019-20.
Abhaya has completed his post graduation in Odia from Central University of Odisha, Koraput and has qualified NET exam. He has been associated with Nandanik for the last 5 years and worked in plays like Nayika, Chandaluni, Asantu Banchiba. He will be working to complete a proposed project titled, Animal Characters in Folk Drama under the guidance of his Guru, Dr Sourav Gupta. He will receive monthly stipend as per government norms.
Abhaya has been selected in the folk theatre category where only 4 candidates in the entire country have been selected.
“It’s a matter of great pride and joy for us as we hope Abhaya’s achievement will inspire other young people to join Theatre”, said Monideepa Gupta, Secretary of Nandanik. She also added that Abhaya will be felicitated by Nandanik in World Theatre Day programme on 27 March 2022 at Tribal Museum, Koraput.
“I will try my best to complete my project successfully and I am grateful to Nandanik for which I got this prestigious scholarship. ” said Abhaya.
