Odisha: Morning class timing revised, summer vacation in schools cut short


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday revised the morning class timing for the students, effective from May 1. The teaching hour will be from 6 AM to 9 AM during this period.

As per the new guidelines, the summer vacation has also been cut short. The vacation will be allowed for a brief period from June 6 to 16.   According to the School and Mass Education department, class promotion for the students from Class-I to VIII will be made by April 20 and the new Admission/ re-admission for Class-I to IX will be done from April 20 to April 30.

Class-IX students will have to appear Summative Assessment-II Examination. However, the conduct of SA-II and declaration of results for students of Class-IX and promotion to Class-X will be completed by May 10, according to the new assessment policy introduced by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE).

Morning classes will continue until further orders.

In order to compensate for Learning Losses arising out of COVID-19 during the last two years, the Learning Recovery Plan (LRP) as envisaged by OSEPA will be implemented with the existing teachers during morning classes. The summer vacation will be curtailed and allowed for a brief period from 6th June to 16th June, stated an official.

Besides, cooked MDM will be supplied to the eligible beneficiaries.
