Cyclone update: Low pressure area likely to intensify into depression in 48 hrs


Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal and is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression during subsequent 48hours, said Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. It is very likely   to   move northwestwards and intensify into a Depression during subsequent 48hours,” informed the regional Meteorological Centre.

Meanwhile, yellow warning has been issued to several districts. The alert has been sounded in these districts till tomorrow.

“Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal & thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, said regional MID Centre.
