Cyclone Asani update: Low pressure to intensify into cyclonic storm on May 8 evening

Cyclone Asani update: The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Saturday informed that the low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm on Sunday (May 8) evening.

“The Low Pressure Area became more marked & now lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea. It is very likely to move northwestwards, intensify into a Depression over   southeast   Bay   of   Bengal   during   next 12 hours,” informed the regional Meteorological Centre.

Further it will intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal by May 8 evening. It is very likely to continue to move Northwestwards and reach Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh­-Odisha coasts by May 10, added Meteorological Centre.
