Cuttack: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Orissa High Court (HC) praying for the cancellation of the T20 match between India and South Africa (SA) at Barabati stadium in Cuttack.
The petitioner has made Odisha government and BCCI and 13 others as perties.
As per BCCI schedule, the match will be played on June 12.
According to available information, the PIL was filed by one Sanjay Nayak of Dhenkanal district. In the petition, Nayak said that Barabati stadium does not have adequate fire safety measures and sought the High Court’s direction to cancel the match.
The South Africa is scheduled to play a 5-match T20 series in India from June 9 to June 19. The online ticket booking for the Barabati match has commenced today. However, users have alleged that there was technical glitch in ticket booking.
