Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation to start night sweeping

Night sweeping in the city will be started soon to make every morning enjoyable and provide fresh atmosphere for city dwellers.

In the afternoon hour today a sensitisation meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Commissioner BMC, Vijaya Amruta Kulange to implement the idea in the state capital.

As decided initially two wards (40 and 53) will be covered under the plan and same will be repeated to other areas in phased manner.

A motivational video on the theme was screened to the sanitation workers, supervisors and sanitation wing of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) present in the programme.  Sanitation personnel working in the area will be engaged to for intensive awareness and information to the communities, vendors, institutions and gated communities. Residents and institutions will be asked to keep double bin for wet and dry waste in their places to handover the waste to BMC Safaigadi only whereas shops and residential societies will have to keep the bin of required size.

Night sweeping in residential and commercial area will be in different time and it will be intimated to the citizens for their active cooperation. There will be discussion in Mo Ward meeting where corporate body and BMC officials will interact with the community members about the benefits of night sweeping with regards to city sanitation and health aspects of the dwellers.

Under the wards the areas to be covered are Forest park area,Unit1, Unit 2 , Unit 3 govt. quarters, market building area, jajati hotel, RBI, SBI, PMG, unit 1 Hata, Kamala Neheru women’s College, unit 1 SBI, Capital Poice Station and Mahila Police station under ward 40. Other areas include Naveen Nivas area(lane 1 to Punama Gate Area), Kukuteswar temple area and Palasapalli under ward 53.

Sanitaion workers, Sanitaion Experts, Sanitary Inspectors were interacted to ensure their cooperation and readiness for such a step in the city. Other dignitaries present were Addl. Commissioner Suryawanshi  Mayur  Vikash and Dy. Commissioner Sanitation Suvendu Kumar Sahoo and Engineers of BMC. Representatives of Jagruti Welfare Organisation and sanitation workers were present on the occasion.
