With passing away of Padmashree Dr Ajay Parida, eminent scientist and Director, Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, the Department of Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources (BCNR), Central University of Odisha today organized a condolence meeting in the memory of the departed soul. A two minutes silence was observed in his memory.
Prof S K Palita, Vice Chancellor I/C & Dean, SBCNR expressed deep condolence and in his message said “The country lost an eminent scientist at a very early age. He was closely associated with launching of MSc in BCNR at Central University of Odisha and was one of the members of the syllabus drafting committee which drafted the first syllabus of the BCNR course at CUO. He had pioneering contribution in the field of climate resilient crop varieties and his special contribution was in identifying draught and salt tolerant genes in mangroves.
Dr Kakoli Banerjee, Dr Debabrata Panda, Assistant Professors in the Department of BCNR and Dr Jayanta Kr. Nayak, HoD I/C, Dep’t of Anthropology spoke about the contribution of Dr Parida in Science & Technology. Dr Sourav Gupta, Assistant Professor, Dep’t of J & MC, CUO also conveyed his condolence on this occasion.
Research scholars and students of the Dep’t of BCNR were present at the meetings.
