New Zealand announces limited-overs squad to take on West Indies

Kane Williamson will lead New Zealand on their first tour of the Caribbean Islands since 2014.

New Zealand named their 15-member limited-overs squad for the tour of the Caribbean Islands in August. The likes of Kane Williamson, Trent Boult and Tim Southee make a return to the ODI and T20I squad for this important tour, New Zealand’s first to the Caribbean Islands in eight years.

“For Kane, Trent, Tim and Devon, this will be the first time they have played white ball cricket for New Zealand since last year’s T20 World Cup and tour to India – so this trip will be important for them,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said.

While the experienced players returned, New Zealand retained the likes of Michael Bracewell, who had a dream series in Ireland recently, and Finn Allen among others.

“We also have players such as Michael and Finn who are relatively new to the international stage but have really put their hands up for selection when given opportunities,” Stead added.

The tour has three T20Is and three ODIs across Jamaica and Barbados and will begin on August 11 with the T20I leg.
