Odisha: Addl programme officer caught taking Rs 45K bribe in Balangir

Balangir: The Vigilance Officers on Friday caught an additional programme officer Muribahal Block in Balangir district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000.

The accused has been indeified as Sushant Kumar Das.

According to Vigilance sources, Sushant Kumar Das has been apprehended by officials  while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 45,000 as first instalment from a complainant (Gram Sathi) for facilitating release of the bill in respect of renovation work of village pond executed by the complainant under MGNREG scheme.

The entire bribe money of  Rs 45,000 has been recovered  from Das and seized.

Following trap, simultaneous searches are going on at 2 locations of Das from DA angle.  A case (36/2022) has been registerd under Section 7 of PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation in progress against accused Das.
