CUO celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas


On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Central University of Odisha celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31 October 2022 as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM).

The celebration started with the ‘Unity Run’ in the University campus. Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor of CUO inaugurated the programme and highlighted the patriotism role, leadership and sacrifice of Sardar Patel in unifying the country and the moral ethics behind the Unity run.

 He led the Unity run in the pre-winter morning at the University campus.

On this occasion, a special programme was organized in front of the Academic Block. The Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the programme and delivered the inaugural address. He highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel to building our modern nation. He said “Sardar Patel is a unique leader; it’s his wisdom and dedication that all the princely states were integrated to India.

Sardar Patel represents unity and that is why we celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas today all over India. Today’s young generation must have ideals like Sardar Patel and other great persons to lead a successful life”.

Prof. Tripathi also highlighted the rich value of Indian culture and tradition while comparing it with the western countries. He said “system and value of family in our country is much richer. The western countries are appreciating and accepting these values to lead their family life”. He advised the students to become informed citizens for nation-building and national unity.

On this occasion Prof. Tripathi led the oath taking as the entire University community took pledge to stand for the Unity and sovereignty of the country. Floral tributes were paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Prof. Asit Kumar Das, Registrar of the University highlighted the patriotism of Sardar Patel and reinforced his teaching and values in his opening address and invited the Vice-Chancellor to administer the pledge.

Sanjeet Kumar Das, NSS-Programme Coordinator gave an introduction of dignitaries present  and briefed them about the programme. Dr. Phaguanth Bhoi, Public Relations Officer coordinated the program and extended the vote of thanks. Students, research scholars, and teaching and non-teaching staff were present at large.
