Ceremony marking start of field work for MIO Conclave’22


IPICOL conducted a ceremony marking the start of the fieldwork for the development of the site and infrastructure for the Make in Odisha Conclave’22 at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar. The ceremony was attended by Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries Department, Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Managing Director, IPICOL and IDCO, Shubhendra Kumar Nayak, Additional Secretary, Industries Department, Kalyan Charan Mohanty, Executive Director, IPICOL, and other senior officials from Industries Department, IPICOL and IDCO.

Speaking to the media, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries Department said, “The development of the site and infrastructure for the Make in Odisha Conclave’22 at Janata Maidan is being undertaken by the Government of Odisha along with FICCI, the National Industry Partner for Make in Odisha Conclave’22. The entire Janata Maidan spread of 20000 Sq Mts will be converted into a modern state-of-the-art event venue with an exhibition centre, a plenary hall, 5 session halls, Chief Minister’s Lounge, VIP Lounge, a dedicated Media Lounge, a Dining area, Food Court, and a grand stage for cultural events. The venue will also have two large anamorphic screens and 6 pods displaying Odisha’s culture, heritage and industrial prowess.”
Sharma added, “Make in Odisha Conclave is the flagship investment summit of Odisha. The event will be conducted from 30th November 2022 to 4th December 2022. This is going to be the third edition of the Make in Odisha Conclave, previously hosted in 2016 and 2018. The Invest Odisha team is working towards ensuring a successful MIO Conclave’22 and we believe we will be able to deliver an outstanding business summit ensuring Odisha’s rise into the league of Industrially developed states.”

The Conclave will start on 30th November 2022 with Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha inaugurating the event and the Make in Odisha Expo. On the 1st of December, the Chief Minister will host the Plenary Session with CXOs and Business Leaders from across the country. The Plenary session will be followed by a session on Start-Up Odisha in the plenary hall and Business Leadership Talks in the sessional halls. The Business Leadership Talks will bring together CXOs, strategists, technology evangelists, thought leaders and entrepreneurs on the MIO platform to discuss the trending and emerging opportunities in the world of business across sectors.

On 2nd December, the sessions on Skilled in Odisha will be followed by a session on Metal Downstream in the plenary hall while the session halls will host various sectoral sessions like Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Textiles & Apparel, Mining, Food Processing, IT/ITeS etc. On 3rd December, key thematic sessions on Women SHGs and School Transformation in Odisha will be held in the plenary hall. Simultaneously, sectoral sessions on emerging sectors like Biotechnology, Circular Economy, Healthcare and Pharma, Defence and Aviation etc. will be held in the session halls. The MIO Conclave will also have cultural programs throughout the 5 days along with Laser and Drone Shows.

The ceremony marks the beginning of the final stages of preparation for the state’s flagship business summit, the Make in Odisha Conclave’22. The Conclave was previously hosted in 2016 and 2018. In the 2016 edition, the state received over 120 investment intents valued at over Rs. 2 Lakh Crore, organized over 500 G2B and B2B meetings, saw the participation of over 270 exhibitors and witnessed a footfall of over 18500. In 2018, the state hosted the 2nd edition, raising the bar higher. The state received investment intentions valued at over Rs. 4 Lakh Crore, organized over 600 G2B and B2B meetings, and witnessed a footfall of over 51000. The state is determined to ensure that Make in Odisha Conclave’22 is an even grander success.
