Bhubaneswar: Union Railway and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said the new Telecom Bill and Data Protection Bill will be passed in the Parliament by August 2023.
India will introduce new Telecom Bill and Data Protection Bill to expand telecom network till the last mile of connectivity and ensure data portability to increase consumer welfare, said Vaishnaw at Odisha Nirman Conclave organised by leading Odia daily Sambad.
He said the new legislations will significantly help in protecting data and curbing cyber fraud.
The Minister also announced launching of Vande Bharat Express in Odisha by the end of February 2023.
Jagannath Express, a special train service, will also be launched to allow people to experience Jagannath culture, he added.
The Minister further said that the Railway Ministry will support the metro rail proposal, if the state government sends any proposal in this regard.
“We are yet to receive any proposal from Odisha for metro rail. If we receive the proposal, we will surely support it,” Union Railways Minister said.
