AIIMS Bhubaneswar organises Walkathon for Organ Donation Awareness 


A mass walkathon for “Organ Donation Awareness” has been organised by AIIMS Bhubaneswar today. 

Hockey India Chairman Dilip Tirkey flagged off the Walkathon and congratulated AIIMS BHUBANESWAR for its initiatives to create awareness in the society for organ donation through this walkathon.

Students of AIIMS BHUBANESWAR should come forward to combat superstitions and wrongs notions existing in the society over organ donation. And, this is really need of hour, said Hockey superstar Dilip Tirkey. 

The Walkathon organised by Department of Gastroenterology, AIIMS BHUBANESWAR witnessed huge success as around one thousand medical students, faculties and employees of the national institute participated. 

Executive Director Dr Ashutosh Biswas participating in the Walkathon reiterated to take all steps to create mass awareness on organ donation for the society. 

Among others Medical Superintendent Dr S N Mohanty, Dean Dr P R Mohapatra, Registrar B B Mishra, DDA Rashmi Ranjan Sethy, Dr Prabhash Ranjan Tripathy, Dr. Sanjay Giri, Nursing college Principal Asha P Setty, Dr Prashant Nayak, Dr Hemant Nayak and others participated in the Walkathon. 

Pioneer in Liver Transplant surgery in public sector Dr. Viniyendra Pamecha also took part in the Walkathon and encouraged the students. Assistant Professor, Surgical Gastroenterology Department Dr Bramhadutta Pattnaik conveyed thanks to all for the success of the event caused for noble issue.

It may be noted here that a CME and Workshop in association with NOTTO was organised yesterday at AIIMS BHUBANESWAR to create awareness regarding organ donation and transplantation. The oneday workshop was attended by many experts of national repute.
