Money order reaches after 4 years

Money order to sister for Sabitri Brata reaches after 4 years

Rourkela: A brother had sent Rs 500 through money order to his sister, who was staying about 100 km away in Odisha. However, the postal department took four years to send the money order to the destination.

Sumitra Biswal of the Tensa area in the Koida block of Sundargarh district received a money order of Rs 500 recently that was sent by his brother Pramod Pradhan in 2018 for Sabitri Brata.

Pramod Pradhan of Sector -8 in Rourkela city sent a money order of Rs 500 on May 9, 2018, at the Sector -19 post office in the name of her sister.

After sending the money order, Pradhan received Electronic Receipt Number no 091097258570460010 from the concerned staff. He did not inform it to her sister and Sumitra also did not ask anything about him.

Surprisingly, Sumitra received a money order of Rs 500 on November 26, 2022 and telephoned her brother. She asked about the money. Pramod also got shocked and remembered that he had sent the money order in 2018.

Following the lapse, postal department superintendent Sarbeswara Choudhury said he has ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter after it came to his notice.
