Youth slits college girl’s throat in Rayagada

Rayagada: In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly slit the throat of college girl near Jagannath temple in Gumuda in Odisha’s Rayagada district today.

The victim is a Plus-II student of Droupadi Bidyapitha in Gumuda. According to the information, the girl, whose identity is yet to be known, is said to be a resident of Bisamcuttack area of the district, was returning from college when the miscreant intercepted her near the college and a slit her throat with a sharp weapon. However, he fled after committing the crime.

Soon the local residents rushed her to Padmapur Community Health Centre (CHC) first and then the girl was shifted to MKCG Hospital in Berhampur as her condition worsened.   

On being informed the local police reached the spot and launched a probe.
