Odisha: Umpire stabbed to death over wrong decision during cricket match


Cuttack: In a shocking incident, an umpire was stabbed to death over a wrong decision during a cricket tournament at Mahisananda panchayat under Choudwar police limits in Cuttack on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Lucky Rout, a resident of resident of Manhisalanda village.

As per information, a cricket tournament was organised at Manhisalanda village when two participating teams got involved in a verbal duel over the wrong decision of the umpire.

The verbal duel subsequently took an ugly turn when a youth attacked the deceased with a knife. He also allegedly thrashed the victim with a bat.

Rout was rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, the doctors there declared him received dead. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
