IndiGo Airlines to begin direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Singapore, Bangkok

Bhubaneswar: IndiGo Airlines, one of India’s leading low-cost carriers, has announced that it will begin direct flight services from Bhubaneswar to Singapore and Bangkok from June 3.

Direct flight services from Bhubaneswar to Dubai will also start from May 15.

This is great news for travelers in the eastern region of India, as they will now have more options to travel to popular destinations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

The schedule for the new direct flight services has been submitted to the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar, and both destinations will have flights twice a week. The booking of tickets for direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok and Singapore has already begun, and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the sale of tickets.

The direct flights will be operated from Bhubaneswar to Dubai thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The flights to Bangkok and Singapore will be operated twice a week on Tuesday and Saturday, said a Bhubaneswar airport official.

The flight from Bhubaneswar to Singapore will depart at 06:25 am and land at 1:05 pm. Similarly, it will leave Singapore at 2:10 pm and land in Bhubaneswar at 3:30 pm. The flight from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok will depart at around 4:50 pm and land there at 9:10 pm. It will return back at 10:10 pm and reach Bhubaneswar at 11:15 pm, the official said.

This move by IndiGo Airlines is expected to boost tourism and business travel between Odisha and Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The airline had evinced interest in operating direct flights to Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok following a request for quotation from the Odisha government. The state government had approved the bid of IndiGo airlines on December 27.

Direct flights from Bhubaneswar to international destinations are expected to make travel more convenient for passengers from Odisha and the eastern region of India. The new direct flights will also help in promoting trade and commerce between Odisha and Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries.

IndiGo Airlines is known for its affordable and reliable flight services and has a strong presence in the Indian aviation market. The airline’s decision to operate direct flights from Bhubaneswar to popular destinations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East is likely to be well-received by travelers from the region.
