Odisha Vigilance: Over 3 crore cash recovered from additional sub-collector


Bhubaneswar: Odisha vigilance detected huge cash of more than Rs three crore during a raid on the properties of additional sub-collector on Friday.

The operation took place on Friday, following the execution of a search warrant issued by Special Judge Vigilance, Sundargarh.

Multiple teams from the vigilance department simultaneously conducted raids at nine different locations associated with Nabarangpur additional sub-collector Prasanta Kumar Rout, according to M. Radhakrishna, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the vigilance department.

Significant sums of money were seized during the ongoing search operation. At Rout’s residence in Bhubaneswar, Rs 2.25 crore in cash was recovered, while an additional Rs 77 lakh was found at his Nowrangpur residence, as stated by the SP.

The search operation is still in progress, and further details will be provided at a later stage, added the SP.

The raids are being conducted at various properties linked to Prasanta Kumar Rout. These include his two-storey house in Kanan Vihar, Bhubaneswar, his residence and office in Nabarangpur, and his ancestral home in Bhadrak. Additionally, the vigilance team is carrying out searches at the residences of his relatives and close associates at five other locations, according to vigilance officials.
