Alleged rape of 80-year-old woman by 20-year-old youth shocks Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar: In Dhanupali area of Sambalpur district, Odisha, a distressing incident unfolded as an 80-year-old woman became the alleged victim of a heinous crime. According to reports, this incident occurred during heavy rainfall at around 2 pm on Tuesday.

A 20-year-old youth is said to have entered the elderly woman’s residence forcefully and offered her some food. However, after closing the door from inside, he allegedly committed multiple acts of rape against her.

During the incident, a concerned neighbor attempted to reach out to the woman to provide food but instead heard cries of distress coming from inside the house. Sensing that something was amiss, the neighbor quickly locked the door from the outside and alerted the Dhanupali police about the suspicious activities.

At approximately 5 pm, the police arrived at the scene and discovered the victim in an unconscious state. The accused youth was found hiding under the bed, seemingly attempting to evade capture.

With the victim in critical condition, the police promptly rescued her and rushed her to the Sambalpur DHH for immediate medical attention. Currently, the victim is undergoing treatment in the medicine ward of the state-run hospital.

As the investigation unfolds, the accused has been taken into custody for further interrogation to shed light on the horrifying incident.
