Dengue scare in Bhubaneswar: BMC identifies 19 areas as red zones


Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared 19 areas in the capital city of Odisha as dengue red zones.

Over 1500 dengue patients have been detected in the city with the report of 60 cases on Tuesday only.

While the highest 119 cases have been detected in Saheed Nagar, 106 cases were reported from Acharya Vihar, 74 from Jayadev Vihar, 59 from Satya Nagar in front of the BMC office, 43 from Baramunda, 33 from Chandrasekharpur, 30 from CRP, 27 from Laxmisagar, 22 from Patia and 37 from Saliasahi area.

With the detection of around 1000 dengue cases in the capital city in the month of August, the BMC has planned to keep dedicated beds for dengue patients at four community health centers (CHCs).

“Each CHC will have 10 beds and the strength will be increased whenever required. All basic treatment required for Dengue patients will be given at the CHCs on admission,” said BMC commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
