Anubhav Mohanty joins BJP: Signals shift in Odisha political landscape

New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician and Lok Sabha MP, Anubhav Mohanty, made a significant move on Monday as he officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in anticipation of the crucial 2024 general elections.

The transition took place at a ceremony hosted at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, where the Kendrapara MP formally aligned himself with the party.

Anubhav’s departure from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was formalized on March 30, marked by the submission of his resignation letter to the BJD leadership. In the letter, he expressed grappling with undisclosed concerns that had left him feeling stifled over the past four years.

Speaking about his decision, Anubhav highlighted his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing their collective support for several landmark legislations such as the Triple Talaq Bill and the abrogation of Article 370. He urged the youth to join the BJP, emphasizing a shared vision for propelling the nation’s progress.

Expressing optimism for India’s future under PM Modi’s stewardship, Anubhav projected a vision where India could become a leading global power within the next five to ten years.

Underlining the paramount importance of national unity and development, Anubhav urged concerted efforts towards the country’s advancement, stressing that there is no higher cause than the betterment of the nation.

Anubhav Mohanty’s political transition holds significance given his former stature as a prominent campaigner for the ruling BJD in Odisha.

In a similar vein, other notable figures from the entertainment industry and politics, such as actor and former Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak, also parted ways with the BJD on March 30. Nayak formally joined the BJP a day later in Bhubaneswar. Likewise, veteran Ollywood actor and two-time Berhampur MP Sidhant Mohapatra recently resigned from the BJD, aligning himself with the BJP.
