Intense heat wave continues in Odisha, Bhubaneswar records 45.4°C


Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to sizzle under intense heat wave as the day temperature touched 46°C at Balasore today.

Capital city Bhubaneswar recorded 45.4°C by 2.30 PM on Tuesday. For the first time Bhubaneswar recorded above 45 degree Celsius this summer season.

As per temperature data shared by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre, Balasore recorded 46°C, Bhubaneswar 45.4°C, Jharsuguda 44.2°C, Chandbali 43.6°C, Rourkela 43.2°C, Sambalpur 43.2°C, Keonjhar 43°C, Puri 35.1°C, Gopalpur 33.6°C and Paradip 33.6°C.

The IMD has issued a ‘Red’ alert indicating that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions is very likely to prevail in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, and Boudh during the next 24 hours.
