Puri-bound tourist bus from Kolkata hits truck, two killed

Jajpur: At least two persons were killed and over 15 others injured when a Puri-bound tourist bus from Kolkata hit a cement-laden truck in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.

The incident took place at Kandhei Chhak under Barchana police limits in the wee hours.

The tourist bus carrying over 50 people from Kolkata was proceeding to Puri when it lost balance and rammed into the truck.

While two persons died on the spot, around 15 others sustained injuries, said sources.

The deceased were stated to be the driver and helper of the bus.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Four of them were later shifted Cuttack hospital as their condition deteriorated.

Sources said the bus had caught fire after the crash.

After getting information, police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot.
