What is Subhadra Yojana?

Subhadra Yojana Odisha is a state-sponsored scheme designed to provide direct financial support to women aged between 21 and 60 years. The primary objective is to empower women financially, thereby promoting economic independence and self-reliance among women in the state. This scheme is a significant addition to the list of Odisha government schemes 2024, focusing on women empowerment and financial inclusion.

Key features and benefits of Subhadra Yojana

  1. Target beneficiaries: The Subhadra Yojana will benefit over 1 crore women aged 21 years and above but below 60 years. This demographic represents a substantial portion of the state’s female population, ensuring widespread impact.
  2. Financial assistance for women in Odisha: Under this scheme, each eligible woman will receive an annual assistance of Rs. 10,000. The amount will be disbursed in two installments of Rs. 5,000 each. The payments are scheduled to coincide with Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day (March 8), celebrating both cultural and international recognition of women’s contributions.
  3. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme Odisha: To ensure transparency and efficiency, the financial assistance will be provided through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. Payments will be directly credited to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-enabled single-holder bank account using the Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS). Additionally, each beneficiary will receive a Subhadra Debit Card Odisha, facilitating easy access to the funds.
  4. Encouragement of digital transactions: The scheme also aims to promote digital literacy and financial inclusion. To encourage digital transactions, the government will identify 100 beneficiaries with the highest number of digital transactions in each Gram Panchayat and Urban Local Body. These beneficiaries will receive an additional incentive of Rs. 500 each.
