Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance today conducted simultaneous searches in connection with allegations of possession of disproportionate assets (DA) by Purendra Kumar Sethy, a record supplier at the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
The searches are being carried out following search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Details of the ongoing searches
The vigilance operation involves a team comprising three Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), one Assistant Commandant, five Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and additional supporting staff. The team is conducting searches at three different locations in Bhubaneswar and Jagatsinghpur to investigate the allegations against Purendra Kumar Sethy. The locations under scrutiny are:
- Four-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar: The team is searching a four-storeyed building owned by Purendra Kumar Sethy, situated on plot No. 486/2175 in Kanan Vihar, Phase-II, Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar. The building is one of the prime assets under investigation for possible disproportionate accumulation.
- Paternal house in Jagatsinghpur: Another search is being conducted at Sethy’s paternal house located in the village of Keupada, Post Office-Anantapur, in the Jagatsinghpur district. This search aims to uncover any additional assets or documents that could support the DA allegations.
- Office room at CHSE, Odisha: The third search location is the office room of Sethy located within the premises of the Director’s office, CHSE, Odisha, Samantrapur, Bhubaneswar. This search is focused on gathering evidence that may pertain to the alleged disproportionate assets or any related malpractices.
As of now, the search operations are ongoing, and a detailed report will follow based on the findings.
