Balasore (Odisha): The Odisha Vigilance has launched simultaneous raids on multiple properties associated with Pradeep Kumar Das, a Junior Assistant at the office of the District Education Officer (DEO) in Balasore.
The action comes in response to allegations of possessing disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
The vigilance operation is being led by a team comprising two Additional Superintendents of Police (SPs), four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), seven Inspectors, five Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting staff. The raids are being conducted on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
The searches are currently underway at the following six locations in Balasore district:
- Residential Building at Angargadia, Balasore: The primary residence of Pradeep Kumar Das, a triple-storeyed building, is under scrutiny. This location is expected to be a significant focal point for the investigation due to its high value and potential for concealing assets.
- Paternal House at Bhuinpada, Khantapada, Balasore: The ancestral home of Das, where further hidden assets or documents could potentially be found.
- Market Complex at Madhagada, Sergarh, Balasore: A commercial property owned by Das is also being searched.
- Relative’s House at Kahalia, Nilgiri, Balasore: The residence of a close relative is under investigation, possibly to trace any linked assets or evidence of financial irregularities.
- Another Relative’s House at Bhuinpada, Khantapada, Balasore: Another property belonging to a different relative of Das is being raided, further expanding the scope of the investigation.
- Office Room at Collectorate Campus, Balasore: The office room of Das within the Collectorate Campus is also being searched.
