Bhubaneswar: The women workforce of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here has been honoured with the ‘Femina Achievers’ East’ award for 2024.
SOA was presented the certificate meant for its ‘Committed Women Workforce’ engaged in the education sector at a program organised by ‘Femina’, the oldest women’s English magazine, at Kolkata recently.
Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to East and North East India and Mr. Nicolas Facino, Director, Alliance Francaise du Bengale presented the award to SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda and Public Relations Officer Ms. Subhadarshini Mishra.
Fiftyfour per cent of the students of SOA, which has been ranked 14th in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024, are girls while 42 per cent of its workforce including the faculty members are women.
Women occupy 45 important posts in the university with Prof. Manjula Das positioned as Controller of Examination. Three of SOA’s 11 institutes are headed by women while heads of 25 departments belong to the fair sex. Prof. Pravati Tripathy works as the Dean of SUM Nursing College, Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra works as the Dean of Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital while Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Mohanty posted as Dean of the Institute of Dental Sciences respectively.
