Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Utkal Diwas, Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal extended warm wishes to the people of Odisha, honouring the state’s cultural legacy, vibrant heritage, and developmental strides.
In his message, Mr. Agarwal spoke about Odisha’s distinctive identity shaped by its spiritual depth, traditional arts, cuisine, and rich landscapes.
He appreciated the enduring contribution of the Odia people in strengthening India’s presence on the global stage through their dedication and talent.
Calling Odisha, the ‘Aluminium Capital of the World’, Mr. Agarwal noted Vedanta’s strong connection with the state.
“Odisha has carved out a significant place for India globally, thanks to its immense natural resources both on the surface and underground. We are proud to have invested over Rs. 1 lakh crore here. But for us, our responsibility goes beyond business—it begins with the well-being of local communities and ensuring sustainable growth,” he stated.
Reflecting on Vedanta’s community initiatives, he shared, “It brings me great pride that we could fulfil the dream of bringing prosperity to Kalahandi. Every home there has experienced a positive change.”
He also conveyed his optimism for Odisha’s future, saying, “With the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the leadership of Odisha’s dynamic Chief Minister Mohan Manjhi, the state’s growth will continue to reach new heights.”
Vedanta Aluminium plays a significant role in Odisha’s economic and industrial landscape, operating a 3.5 MTPA alumina refinery at Lanjigarh and one of the largest aluminium smelters globally in Jharsuguda.
The company has committed over INR 25,000 crores in new investments, aimed at expanding operations and generating employment, infrastructure, and technological advancement.
