Amrit Station Scheme: Major station revamp in central Odisha


Bhubaneswar: In a major stride toward modernizing the railway infrastructure of Central Odisha, Indian Railways has launched a sweeping redevelopment initiative under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This transformative effort is set to redefine passenger experiences, promote regional connectivity, and boost local economies.

The project focuses on the comprehensive upgradation of six key stationsAngul, Talcher, Talcher Road, Meramandali, Dhenkanal, and Rairakhol—bringing them up to world-class standards in design, accessibility, sustainability, and passenger convenience.

Highlights of the Modernization Drive:

  • New Station Buildings with cutting-edge architecture, contemporary facilities, and enhanced passenger interfaces
  • Upgraded Station Façades that are both functional and visually appealing
  • 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) and passenger lifts for improved accessibility
  • Revamped Platforms featuring better surface quality, extended shelters, digital signage, and enhanced security systems
  • Green Infrastructure with energy-efficient lighting, water-saving systems, and robust waste management
  • Integrated Transport Facilities including dedicated pick-up/drop-off lanes and expanded parking areas

🔹 Talcher Road Station | ₹18.85 Crore

  • Modern station building and improved façade
  • 12m-wide FOB and 2 lifts
  • Digital information systems
  • 25-bay platform shelters

🔹 Talcher Station | ₹12.97 Crore

  • New station building with platform upgrades
  • Façade enhancement and LED signage
  • 15-bay platform shelters

🔹 Meramandali Station | ₹21.99 Crore

  • New building with aesthetic and functional upgrades
  • 12m-wide FOB, 2 lifts, and digital signage
  • 20-bay platform shelters

🔹 Dhenkanal Station | ₹26.11 Crore

  • Completely new station building with modern amenities
  • 12m-wide FOB, 2 lifts, and improved goods shed infrastructure
  • LED display boards and 25-bay shelters
  • New connecting road to the station

🔹 Rairakhol Station | ₹26.93 Crore

  • Full station redevelopment, including a new second entry
  • 12m-wide FOB, 2 lifts, and 7-bay shelters across platforms 1, 2, and 3
  • Upgraded signage, modern toilets, and Divyangjan-friendly features
